Moving day for the WHCG Blog
23 11 2008Knox County Schools switched over to the SchoolFusion web content management system this fall–online pages for teacher’s classes, etc. I took the class this summer and could see that the days of a standalone blog were numbered, but waited until they activated the blogging feature before making the move.
Well, it’s moving day!
The new address for my blog is http://davis.wesths.knoxschools.org.

New Twitter Feed for the Choir Guy
27 10 2008West High Choir Guy now has a Twitter feed for those of you who love text messaging and don’t care so much to check your email or blog readers (it turns out there’s more of you out there than I thought).
If you already have a Twitter account, just follow the Choir Guy feed at http://twitter.com/whschoirguy. I’ll update the feed only when I update the blog or when I need to get information to you quickly. Don’t worry about getting too many updates from the Choir Guy–I keep a separate personal feed for nonsense like “sitting @ Starbuck’s reading the latest Patrick O’Ryan novel.”
If you don’t have a Twitter account, you might want to look into it, especially if you love to text and hate to check email (you know who you are). Read up on the Twitter article at Wikipedia for more information, or just head over to the Twitter page and set up a free account.

New Docs Page
24 08 2008Just so you know, I’ve added a Documents page to the site so you can download and print forms when needed. The only documents linked there so far are the Chorus Handbook and Syllabi for Vocal Workshop and Concert Choir, but more are on the way once we get going on ad sales, etc.

All hands on deck!
5 08 2008Students,
We’re down to the last week! Thursday and Friday will be the last days students will be able to work in their rooms before school starts.
Mr. Ballero (our new theater teacher) needs 3-4 students Thursday morning to work on the wardrobe closet and get the stage ready for the term. I can use whoever else comes to work on the photo collage from Beauty and the Beast so we can get them on the wall before Monday.
Please reply to me and let me know if you can put in a day at school on Thursday. Thanks!

All-State Recap
20 04 2008Congratulations to Alyssa Scott and Shantel Waters for participating in this year’s All-State Choruses. The performances were wonderful (my favorite from the Women’s Chorus was the “Hoi Hura Hoi” and from the Mixed was the “True Stars Shining”), the Symphony Hall was breathtaking, and I left the concert with a well-nourished soul.
Alyssa was selected to sing in a smaller ensemble of 12 for the Mixed Chorus’ performance of Mozart’s Regina Coeli. Way to go!
Shantel and Alyssa–I’m so proud of both of you!

Sunday’s B&B Rehearsal
29 03 2008Just a reminder–Sunday’s (March 30) rehearsal is an ALL CALL. We’ll do our first “stumble-through” for Act 1. We especially need all stage hands on board as we’ll be running scene changes.
Have a great time tonight at Prom!
